Eco-Schools Program
To manage and drive this program, GGAF sponsors a Sustainability Manager to ensure effective implementation for each school district.
We work in close collaboration with district leadership, the business office, and operations and educational services teams to develop a climate action plan. The plan provides a 5-year roadmap to achieve the goals of the ESP programme. This plan encompasses 5 key areas of school operations and culture:
• Buildings (Energy, Water)
• Transportation
• Waste Management (Litter and Food Waste)
In the plan, we establish an energy use and GHG emission baseline for each school in the district.

EcoSchool Global
Eco-Schools is one of the largest global sustainable schools programme –it starts in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action-based learning.
The programme’s greatest achievement is arguably the fact that it produces generation after generation of sustainably minded, environmentally conscious people. These individuals will carry the behavioural patterns they uptake under the auspices of Eco-Schools with them through life, in turn teaching the next generation the habits to make a difference.
Eco-Schools is implemented in 81 countries by FEE member organisations and in 26 countries through International Schools.
EcoSchool Malaysia
The Eco-Schools Programme, developed by the Foundation for Environmental Education based in Denmark, is the largest project- based environmental education programme in the world. Involving a membership of over 81 countries, 20 million students and 1.4 million teachers, the program offers a unique opportunity for local students to forge international collaboration, creating a more global community. In Malaysia, the programme was introduced by WWF- Malaysia in 2011 as the national operator and in 2016, the Green Growth Asia Foundation was entrusted by the Melaka and Kedah State Governments to operate the Eco-Schools Programme in their states. Now, the Eco-Schools Programme under our management continues to grow from year to year spreading from Melaka, Kedah, Perak to Pahang, Selangor, Kelantan and Perlis. Eco-Schools Malaysia is on the right track in the development of the education revolution for sustainable development.
This programme has been acknowledged by the UNESCO Greening Education Partnership as the best programme to give accreditation to schools and fulfilling GEP’s mission of Greening Schools and Greening Learning.
